Sampled test for self-adjointness \(\langle x, A y \rangle = \overline{\langle y, A x \rangle}\).

On a real field this is symmetry \(A = A^T\); on a complex field it is the Hermitian condition \(A = A^*\), which conjugate-free comparison would miss.
